What is Reflexology?

September 13, 2019

Reflexology is based on the concept that there are reflex points on the feet (or hands) that can be mapped to every organ, gland and structure of the body. The treatment is a touch therapy that involves massage and placing pressure on these specific points of the feet in order to treat the whole body.

Reflexology does not claim to diagnose or cure an illness but treats the person as a whole working at a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

The treatment can aid relaxation, release tension in the body, allow for better quality sleep, improved mood and increased well being.  By providing the person with these benefits it helps their body to work at a more optimum level, improving the flow of energy and bringing all of the bodies systems into balance, and this in turn gives the body a better ability to heal itself.

People will usually see some benefits after a single treatment, but for more chronic or ongoing conditions it is recommended to have regular treatments over a period of time.  This will give the body more time and space to heal and also enables a therapeutic and supportive relationship to develop between the client and the therapist.

Simply giving yourself the time out of daily life for the treatment can be hugely beneficial and a real chance to switch off and focus on your needs.

I am available for reflexology sessions at Muma Nurture on Wednesdays, 10am - 2pm.
